The Port of Moerdijk

Location and means of conveyance

The port of Moerdijk is situated on the Hollandsch Diep and it is the farthermost inland seaport in the Netherlands. Moerdijk is a hub of transport modalities and possibilities, less than a four hour sail from the North Sea inland.

The port of Moerdijk has 2,600 hectares gross of industrial and port land divided into thematic sub-parks. In these parks companies with similar interests can benefit from each other's products and know-how.

Ocean shipping
Moerdijk has an open connection with the North Sea via the Hollandsch Diep, Dortse Kil, Oude Maas and the Nieuwe Waterweg.  Moerdijk is accessible for vessels drawing up to 8.4 metres. An increased drawin in the near future is planned

Inland shipping
Moerdijk is situated on the hub of the large European inland shipping courses: the Rhine, the Meuse and Scheldt and midway between the main-ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp. Practically every inland destination in the European hinterland can be accessed from Moerdijk.

Rail transport
The port of Moerdijk has a direct connection with the European rail network. Several rail terminals make the rail usage attractive and easily accessible for all users.

Road transport
The port of Moerdijk has its own connecting road to the A17 motorway from where motorways to the European hinterland are quickly accessible.

Pipeline network
Right alongside the port of Moerdijk runs the European pipeline network for the underground transport of raw materials in bulk.

HARBOURS & SUBAREAS

Harbours
The port of Moerdijk is accessible for ocean-going vessels drawing up to 8.4 metres. The port complex comprises five harbours:

  1. The Hollandsch Diep Harbour.
  2. The Roode Vaart Harbour.
  3. The Central Harbour Basin.
  4. The Eastern Harbour Basin.
  5. The Western Harbour Basin.

Subparks
The port of Moerdijk comprises approximately 2,600 hectares of industrial land and port area. The port is sub-divided into sub-areas.

-          Seaport
-          Ecopark
-          Industrial Park
-          Tradepark
-          Distri Boulevard
-          Service Point

Seaport Moerdijk harbours companies with waterconnected activities such as storage and transshipment. From Seaport Moerdijk regular services leave for different destinations.

The Ecopark provides companies concerned with energy or environmental technology. Energy generated from waste, cleaning, the processing of waste substances, and recycling. The residual substance from the one operation is often the base material for the other. Hereby a long-lasting inter-relation between economy and ecology is created.

Industrial and chemical companies are assembled in the Industrial Park. They, too, in the area of production, distribution, maintenance and supply take full advantage of each other's presence and know-how.

The Tradepark contains trading enterprises and logistics companies, which provide value-added services (Value Added Logistics). Leading brands have opted for Moerdijk as the centre for their European distribution operations.

From the Distri Boulevard housing transport, distribution, and trade companies, immediately alongside the A 17 motorway, trucks leave for all corners of Europe and beyond.

The offices of the Port Authority of Moerdijk are housed in the Service Point. Also in this Service Point the Business Service & Learning Centre is being realised. The service Point accommodates a wide range of service providers either in its own offices or in multi-tenanted buildings.
