Application Residence permit

The procedure for a residence permit is identical to that for expatriates who require a temporary residence permit. The application for a permanent residence permit should be submitted then. The foreign national is also required to sign a declaration of cognizance and an antecendents statement
 
The following documents are required when registering with the Aliens Police:

- Two color photographs, front one, per family member

- Recently dated work contract stating:

    - length of contract;

    - position in company;

    - salary level (salary slip if possible);

    - health insurance policy number.

- Copy of work permit or application for a work permit

  (Non-EU members only).

The foreign national's spouse or partner and children over the age of 12 are also each required to fill in an application form. Parents with children under 12 years of age must have their children's passports and photographs with them when registering.

If a foreign national with children registers the children in theNetherlands and the foreign national's spouse is still living and working abroad, the foreign national must show a statement from the spouse consenting to the children being in the Netherlands and a copy of the spouse's passport to verify the signature. These rules are to avoid the possibility of a parent taking children out of the country without the other parent's knowledge.
