Municipality Bergen op Zoom
In the margravate and fortified town of Bergen op Zoom (65,000 inhabitants) there are traces of a Burgundian history everywhere. For example, in the attractive town centre with more than two hundred listed buildings, including Europe's grandest town palace with adjoining municipal museum, Het Markiezenhof, and the H. Maagdkerk, now converted into a municipal theatre. From spring to autumn this town - adjacent to the water - is dominated by processions and performances, the town is characterised by its high level of activity. It is with good reason that Bergen op Zoom accommodates two of the largest employers in the region: GE Plastics and Philip Morris each with almost two thousand employees. Bergen op Zoom has excellent possibilities for business location, for example on the Theodorushaven/ Noordland and Oude Molen industrial estates.
